INTERGALACTIC ARTS COLLECTIVE
The Intergalactic Arts Collective (IGAC) is a dynamic group of movement-based artists who come together with the shared purpose of creating space for people to engage with Dance. IGAC’s studio, in Toronto’s vibrant west-end, is home to classes, workshops, rehearsals, performances, conferences, and more. It is the place to look for cutting-edge movement-based creativity that takes artistic risks, digs deeply into genres, pushes boundaries, and inspires. It is a welcoming space for all to move and be moved.
In 2020-2021, the IGAC resident artists are: Angela Blumberg, Jessie Garon, Maxine Heppner, Suzanne Liska, Tracey Norman, Sara Porter, and Jessica Runge. In addition, IGAC’s space is shared with over 50 associate artists, guests, and groups from all dance forms.

HISTORY
IGAC was established in 1993 as a space-sharing collective of independent dance and movement-based artists. For fifteen years, the collective rented space from Artscape at the Darling Building on Spadina Avenue, where it was a hub for artistic activity. In 2008, the Darling building closed, and the collective began what was to be a long search for a new space. Five years later, in November 2013, IGAC moved into our current home, a beautiful 1,000 square foot studio in the newly converted Artscape Youngplace on Shaw Street (formerly the Givins School). Over the years the collective’s studio has been the creative home-base to many diverse movement artists.
