7A*11D

7a*11d (incorporated in 2012 under the name Toronto Performance Art Collective) formed in January 1997 out of a collective interest in encouraging Toronto’s performance art activity. By August 1997, 13 founding artists (representing several loosely organized artist collectives) produced the first 7a*11d International Festival of Performance Art, a successful event that brought together 60 artists from Canada, the US, and Australia. After producing a second festival in 1998, the collective moved to a biennial festival format, with an interest in producing other types of events in our off-year. In addition to 10 successful festivals (the 11th took place Oct 13-22 of 2016) in Toronto featuring hundreds of artists from around the world, the festival has also produced residency and artist exchange projects, and partnered with numerous local, national and international venues on various co-presentations of performances and performance art related events.
