NATURAL LIGHT WINDOW

N.L.W. was a contemporary art installation space started and curated by the artist Rupen and was in existence from early 1997 to late 2006. It was located at 506 Adelaide St. West, Toronto and is the only place the N.L.W. physically existed. The space gave artists a venue that exposed their work to not just the gallery goers but to anyone walking or rolling by the N.L.W. In turn, viewers of the works, whether comfortable or familiar with contemporary art or not, had to at least to consider what they were looking at, no matter if it struck them in a good, bad or indifferent way at first. Considering something offered, such as contemporary art into your world, is for me (Rupen) a concept of human flexibility. It gives the viewer a chance to question ideas of others and develop in unfamiliar/new ways.
